exactly! I think that is real appeal of the tech going smaller with quality sensors…a 1.6x sensor starts to look more attactive again if it’s going to be in a nice small package…I got a new p/s last year, but just wasn’t over the moon with it – for the size, quality, my phone is more handy for mediocre quality shots. I actually took quite a few shots in Alaska with it…I loved the ability to post them to social media when I hit each port…and on the dreary rainy days that I didn’t want to take my good gear on shore and the photo ops were minimal – my phone was all I used…honestly, I would sell my 70-200 it’s such a beast – if I hadn’t just spent 600 this year to get it repaired…I feel like I have to get good images back from it to get the value back;) and it is a gorg lens – though I think I might prefer the 135 2.0 longterm…I am not so much a gear head at this point, but the physical size / wt really has been a hindrance for me lately – and I’m kind of glad I never got into it so much that I was committed to it professionally – I don’t think it would have been good for my back ON the flip side I saw one of the kelly moore bags at the shop where I picked up the rental – it was gorg…I covet it as well;)

I get it – and in fact, I sort of miss my old film cameras for the same reason. They were small and light! And a cheapie 50mm 1.8 lens was small and light as well – so I could pop one of those on a camera, grab a couple of rolls of film, and put them in my purse, and go. On days when you think you *might* want a camera, and a cell phone camera just won’t do, what do you carry?

yes:) I poppped on the fish eye a couple times – but as it’s 15mm – unless I was doing something more creative – it didn’t lend itself so much…I think the stair one though might have used it…

I want to get the 16-35 – I have always loved your images and others that I have seen with it…I sold my 24-70 as I didn’t love it – it was so…normal, if that makes sense – it was great for concerts – almost a must have – but since I don’t want to shoot those as much – I just decided to sell it…and save up for the 16-35…if I don’t buy it by next January I’ll rent it again on my Hawaii trip probably – I want to go on a photography tour when I’m there…

I also sold my second body – bc if I’m not really shooting events regularly I dont’ need it…instead once the technology matures, I’ll probably look into the mirrorless – especially now that canon has an option in that arena…of late size/weight has been an issue for me – and I would love quality in a smaller package especially for travel. I’m really at the point – that if I can’t have pretty good IQ/response, then I’ll just use my phone…so middlin tech just won’t work…so it may not be until the next model or something…or maybe I’ll buy a car?!

Did you rent a 16-35mm? How funny! I kept thinking that some of them looked like that lens, but I told myself not to be ridiculous. How on earth would I be able to tell what lens you used? I’m not some techie genius, able to just look at an image, and just know what lens was used. But still it felt so familiar…

I should have guessed you’d rent something fun to use on the big trip!

thanks – I like this one, it’s one of the newest from graphpaperpress…it has given me some trouble – but once I got it working…I might try to even out the slideshow image sizes this weekend (will actually require some image editing) – but for now, it will do…

thanks – the sky in so many was so cool…oh and I love the 16-35…maybe next year;) And yeah, the stairs – there was something about them in frame I liked – I might have taken that one with the fish…I don’t even know and I’m too lazy to look;) Most all of the images are from the fjord, the ship, or in Juneau…I didn’t even take my camera out in the other dreary locals where we just went kitchy shopping – I just used my phone;)

Really really beautiful! I especially love the first shot – the clouds and the band of sky and the sea – love the math! And the shot of the staircase – it’s different, in a good way!
