The camera loved Johnny Blackout

Hola! It’s been a while…vacation was fabulous, and I have almost 5000 images to sift through!

But, more on that to come, promise…

This past weekend, I volunteered to shoot the Noise for the Needy Festival(www.noisefortheneedy.org) at 2 of their shows. More on that later, too:)

I had rented a couple lenses to push my kit to it’s max since I knew lighting would be challenging at these gigs, and I wanted to test drive the 24mm 1.4L. So I shot primarily with that and the 50mm 1.2L and the 100mm 2.0 .

What came of these shows was some pretty good images I think…but the most striking for me on reviewing all the images from assorted bands, was the guitar player for Sunday Night Blackout ~ Johnny Blackout… He had all the rock star moves…some may even call them cliche…but it does not matter when it comes to images…Funny because he was also in the best light on stage…coincidence? I really had to push to get any images of the rest of the band. In frame it was magic when pointing it at Mr Johnny Blackout…take a look……………

The whole experience was great…the organization is something I can get behind, and loved being able to contribute in some way…like I said, more on the whole bit soon!

Europe 2008: From Tuscany to Paris via Venezia!

Venezia – that would be Venice:) In late Spring 2008, a 9 day stay at a Villa above Montecatini, spent touring the countryside of Tuscany with days spent at historic towns of Siena, San Gimignano, Vinci, Lucca, and much celebration at our family friends wedding. The trip continued with a drive across from Montecatini to Venice – we stopped at Bologna and Padua along the way. And Venice – the town amongst canals…A cruise trip to minor isles – Murano, Burano, and Torcello, midnight run to the the Venice ER, gorgeous food(yep!), and vistas from atop San Marco’s. I would love to go back for more than a few days… And jetted back for a long weekend in Paris – the Eiffel Tower, a cruise along the Seine, tour of the night lights of Paris, the Notre Dame…so much so little time. First our stay in Tuscany – the views from our villa were SPECTACULAR… Views of road down to Montecatini ~ Tuscany, Italy (Elisa Sherman) Views of Montecatini at Night, Tuscany, Italy (Elisa Sherman) (Elisa Sherman) One of the most memorable things about this trip – is how gorgeous the skies were – I mean, why do they have prettier clouds than us? I mean whether scary or scattered – the skies were gorgeous… Piazza Siena ~Tuscany (Elisa Sherman) View from above Montecatini ~ Tuscany (Elisa Sherman) Lucca ~ Tuscany (Elisa Sherman) The historic towns – beyond…so rich in time… Strolling through San Gimignano ~ Tuscany (Elisa Sherman) Even the trees are prettier in Tuscany…sigh… (Elisa Sherman) There is probably nothing more impressive than the views from above – and I sent my brother in law, Brett up the towers at San Gimignano to take some spectacular shots – thansk Brett! San Gimignano by Brett And well there was just so much to see – just in Tuscany… Montecatini ~ Tuscany (Elisa Sherman) One cannot of course, be in Italia without imbibing – alas, we got to attend our friends wedding where bottles were atop every table – as is custom at any meal here… (Elisa Sherman) Beyond the gorgeousness that was so obviously Tuscany – the drive across was very cool – on a train we never would have stopped at the towns of Bologna or Padua… Bologna, Italy (Elisa Sherman) Bologna, Italy (Elisa Sherman) Padua, Italy (Elisa Sherman) Upon arrival to Venice – the visions of city on the water were simply inescapable…the Grand Canal – the little canals…the flowers hanging off the balconies, San Marco’s, Gondolas…the food ~ bella!
