Well, I was on the “list” to shoot it, so literally…it was “free”…this sold out intimate show in the first few nights of Gavin DeGraw’s tour just kicking off to support his new album “Free”…
This night at the Tractor Tavern over in Ballard…was cold…waiting out in line, to get in…once in, making friends with folks in the right place where I estimated I might get the best angle on the action…
In a way it was just a chill fun night…amongst friends…a few hundred of your (literally) closest—shoulder to shoulder, friends packing out the house…
Gavin and his band kept the crowd entertained with new and old tunes…closing the encore with the biggest hit of his back catalog, I don’t wanna be…it was a lovely night…
Oh, and I think Gavin looks a bit like a young Kevin Costner these days…the old mop top Gavin sported years past, is much more tightly shorn…

Seriously, he is cute…
After the show, Gavin stayed and met, shook hands, took photos and chatted up whomever wanted to…the most impressive thing about him, is his genuine nature…when he meets you he isn’t satisfied to just say thanks to your compliment…he asks your name and thanks you back by name…just a good guy.
I may only have known the one song going in, but I appreciate his joy in performing the music and connection that he makes with the audience…

Until next time, see you out there;)
